Music has a hole in it. The fires, killer heat, Arctic blasts they don’t make it. Global warming is not for popular music? Where are voices of ordinary folks suffering through the never-before-seen, calls for people power? Here we go: 21 songs for this grave new world.

For the last 30 years I searched for great green music. There’s been a few, but honestly, cruise YouTube for songs on global warming and most of what you get is painful. This is not popular music. Where are the artists, the ones who care about the kids and bears and trees? Are there ears for it? We need music activism for the future. All songs this week are released for non-profit use by anyone, by you. Please pass them on, play them at climate conferences and talks, use these tools to reach the heart.
Welcome to our annual Radio Ecoshock green music festival.
All this comes after the strangest wind storm I’ve lived through. After blasting the Pacific Northwest coast with damages, this straight-line wind rose over the coastal mountains and stayed violent a long way East. At least a dozen big and beloved trees in our village went down, closing roads and downing power lines. Those trees were at least 80 years old. So …a wind like this has not been seen in a lifetime. The same extreme wind front in Colorado brought warnings of the highest fire danger ever in December and crashed down trees across the Dakotas.
We know this holiday season will be hot in Australia. That is OK, but not summer for Christmas in most of the U.S. – like Kansas! You may dream of summers from your childhood, but those days are over. Summers just get hot beyond hot from here on out. Several medical experts on Radio Ecoshock explained why hotter nights are the biggest killer.

Extreme rainfall is ravaging many parts of the world. Sure the Pacific Northwest went through about a month of atmospheric rivers drenching, flooding and causing land-slides. California just drowned again. Extreme rain just killed over a thousand people in Indonesia. It’s just another problem, until you live through it.

Is your mind re-programmed for tiny inputs, TikTok moments fleeting by? In February 2025 I spoke with “Mr. Orange” about this mind replacement technology. The lyrics are as empty as the medium.

New science covered by Radio Ecoshock last summer found the most deadly air emerging: hot and polluted episodes. When smog and extreme heat converge, mass mortality follows.
